The egg treasure hunt

FIND THE TREASURE!
This is a nice activity for our students of 1st of primary. They enjoyed it a lot! Only if all the groups got a key it was possible to open the treasure! So they worked together in a cooperative way learning English.
In groups of four students they had to find four Easter eggs in the school. Inside each Easter egg there was a message. The 1st egg was hidden in the classroom and the rest of the group helped them by shouting: ‘cold’ or ‘hot’ depending if they were near or far from the egg. When they read the message in the 1st egg they received instruction to find the next egg. If the group came back to the class with the five eggs they got 4 different keys. At the end we opened the treasure boxes using the different keys. All the students were very motivated and reading the messages had a real purpose.
Here is an example of the instructions that the students had to follow:
First find egg number 1 in the class. Your classmates are going to help you using the words: hot and cold.

1-     GO TO THE LIBRARY AND LOOK UNDER THE COMPUTER TABLE.

2-     PERFECT! NOW GO TO THE HALL AND ASK MARGARITA:  “CAN YOU GIVE ME ONE EASTER EGG, PLEASE?”

3-     FANTASTIC!
NOW GO TO THE NEW GYM AND LOOK UNDER THE BENCH.

4-     YOU WIN!

YOUR ENGLISH IS REALLY GOOD. GO TO YOUR CLASS AND ASK FOR THE KEY.

MY TOWN

MY TOWN (COLLAGE), 1st year.

Our students have prepared a collage about Lleida, and they have explained to the rest of the pupils what we can find in our town.
